U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is the federal law-enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for enforcing immigration laws, including the arrest, detention, and removal of noncitizens. It houses much of its detention population in facilities run by private operators, chiefly CoreCivic and GEO Group, under federal contracts.
