In April 2024, an Arizona grand jury indicted Boris Epshteyn on nine felony counts — including fraud, forgery, and conspiracy — for his alleged role in the effort to submit a slate of fake presidential electors for Donald Trump after the 2020 election. Epshteyn was charged alongside other Trump aides and allies, among them Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and John Eastman, as well as eleven Arizona Republicans who had signed certificates falsely declaring themselves the state's duly elected electors. Prosecutors alleged Epshteyn assisted Giuliani in carrying out the scheme and in the broader effort to obstruct Congress's certification of the results on January 6, 2021.
