Artur Shehu is an Albanian-born businessman based in Miami who built a real-estate portfolio in his native country. He emigrated to the United States in 2001, won asylum, and later obtained US citizenship while continuing to acquire property in Albania, including along the Adriatic coast. Albanian prosecutors have charged him with money laundering and participation in a structured criminal group, allegations he denies.

Kushner venture buys Albanian land from an accused money launderer

Received 110 million euros, about $125 million, for his Zvernec land in April 2026. Two months later Albanian prosecutors sought his arrest, alleging he held a leadership position in an international drug ring and laundered proceeds through property obtained with forged records, including this land. He denies the allegations, and his lawyer says his family's claims rest on legitimate historical documents. Prosecutors froze his proceeds from the sale.
